Kubang Badak Island
This small island is located in front of the fishermen jetty of Kg. Kubang Badak and is covered with young mangrove forest, because the trees are about the same height and the tree dianeter is still small. Kubang Badak Islet is formed by the process of deposition of fine silt alternating with mud, which is important to create a young mangrove forest ecosystem. The process also creates a natural state, i.e. deep grooves and protective zone from the strong ocean waves and currents.
The formation of Kubang Badak Island begins with the formation of sandbar (bohor) in the funnel-shaped rivermouth, The processes involved are;
(a) during high tides, the flow of seawater into the channel increases rapidly that it carries with it sand from the coast into the channel
(b) when the tide is low, the flow of water out is slower as the energy of the water transport decreases.
Sand will be deposited every time the water subsides until it forms a sandbar at the widest part of the channel.
